Many a scientific and medical debate has been struck about the validity of the left brain/right brain model, but it remains as an effective metaphor to illustrate the differentiating characteristics of each hemisphere. Ken Robinson references this metaphor in his observation that educational hierarchs live "in their heads...and slightly to one side"—the left side.
